Mushira & Adam's Wedding at the Art Gallery of NSW

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

It has been one of my dreams was to photograph a wedding at the Art Gallery of NSW. And when Mushira & Adam told me their venue, I let out a little gasp and thought this is the perfect couple for that venue. Larger than life, filled with amazingness, accessible to anyone, intricately detailed, made to be enjoyed.

Mushira & Adam began their wedding celebrations with a traditional Muslim wedding at their hotel the day before their big wedding day. Dressed in beautiful traditional outfits, the couple and guests gathered for an intimate family service and celebration. This is also the first time I encountered Mushira's hilarious facial expressions! Whether it's nerves or just not taking life too seriously, I couldn't help but capture their love in a way I never have before.

Their favourite people from near and far gathered at the Art Gallery for their ceremony and it was the perfect amount of fun, love and silliness which pretty much sums up this couple. Mushira started off her vows, gazing deeply into Adam's eyes and proclaiming "Adam you infuriate me." Howls of laughter from everyone. But then added that Adam is the most optimistic and nicest person ever, and no matter how hard she tried, he would always be the nicest one. A nice problem to have, I think!

The Art Gallery is an amazing space which feels both intimate but grand and spacious. There's something special about having a public space all to yourself. The quiet to take in the awe of the incredible artwork and the freedom to wander about in your own time. It was pretty special for me!

It's obvious that these two love each other and they are perfectly matched. They have their opposites and things that balance each other, but one thing they both are is that they are the nicest people ever!

Day 2: Their Wedding Day started at their hotel with getting ready followed by a lovely First Look.

All the beautiful little details at the reception with soft gold tones and pops of colour worked nicely in the Scandi wood decor of the space. The centrepiece was the simple pale blue and orchid-adorned two-tiered wedding cake.

Celebrant/MC extraordinaire, Robyn, got the guests revved up to make some noise and drama for Mushira & Adam's grand entrance as the newly married couple. Little Leon's harmonica rendition probably stole the night! The guests were kept entertained with an 'I Spy' game and dancing all night long with music from Baker Boys Band. The happy couple lived out their dreams of being 'Sandy & Danny' in their first dance to the tune of 'You're the one that I want'. Well Mushira's dream anyway, as Adam never watched 'Grease'

before he met Mushira. It was the absolute perfect dancefloor starter and instead of a bouquet toss, the couple had a toy toss for the kids.

* Due to the nature of photographing an in an art gallery, artwork that appears in the background cannot be published for commercial use, so unfortunately I cannot share more photos around the gallery. (And hence the weird tight crops on the photos 😂) So whilst there were so many more gorgeous photos, they will remain private for the couple to view and share. But I can highly recommend the space for your wedding, it was truly incredible. The event organiser, Clare, was simply amazing and will make your wedding day a dream.
